As a result of recent legislative changes, as of September 2019, only Belgian citizens, residents, and companies are eligible to register a vessel under the Belgian flag.

We are required to have the following documents:

• Nationality and residence documentation
• A copy of your national identification card or passport
• A copy of your boat's ownership documentation, such as a bill of sale or notarized document
• Cancelation of your previous flag (if applicable)
• A copy of the EC declaration of conformity for boats constructed after 1998 and engines constructed after 2006

• A photo of the boat's CE plate
• A photo of the serial number of the engine or engines

Copy of the EC statement of conformity for imported boats and proof of EU VAT payment certificates.

For the home-built boats, invoices for the primary components, such as the hull, mast, motor, etc. a report about insurance. a declaration that you are the builder in French or Dutch together with information about the boat model, the length of time it took to build, the start and finish dates, the address where it was built, and a reference to a drawing.

For boats constructed after 1998, a copy of the EC declaration of conformity is necessary.

Unfortunately, we do not provide MMSI license services anymore. You would need to contact the authorities on your own to apply for the MMSI license.
